Kilimanjaro Climbing/Trekking

Reaching the roof of Africa will definitely be a wonderful experience of your lifetime. You do not need any professional skills to reach to the summit of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro (5895meters). However, it is a strenuous trek, so we recommend our clients to do some cardiovascular exercises (such as jogging, swimming etc) before your arrival.

KILIMANJARO ROUTES OVERVIEW

MARANGU 5 DAYS (Moderate)

You will stay in wooden huts. This route is called Coca-Cola route due to its gentle trek compared to other routes, but it is challenging the last day going up to the summit at midnight.

DAY 1 Check-in at Marangu Gate and start ascending to Mandara hut (2700m)
DAY 2 Leave Mandara hut to Horombo hut (3720m)
DAY 3 Leave Horombo hut to Kibo hut(4700m), start ascending to the summit at midnight
DAY 4 Reach the summit (Uhuru Peak, 5895m) early in the morning. Enjoy the beautiful sunrise above the clouds! After that, start descending to Kibo hut where you will have a short tea break and proceed to Horombo hut for a night.
DAY 5 Leave Horombo hut and descend to Marangu Gate, where you will get your certificate and celebrate singing with your crews.

Please note that you can also book this route for 6days where you will have an additional day for acclimatization at Horombo hut prior to tackling the summit.

MACHAME 6 DAYS (Slightly strenuous)

This route is somehow challenging. Accomodation is mobile tents.

MACHAME 7 DAYS (Slightly strenuous)

Taking an additional day assists acclimatization and avoid being prone to altitude sickness.

One day trekking in Mt. Kilimanjaro

If you do not want to climb up to the summit, you can do an easy day trekking. The guide will explain to you about flowers, birds, environments etc during the trekking.
This day trekking is perfect for those who do not have confidence in their strengths or who do not have time.

Safari by the Mt.Kilimanjaro

There are safari tours available in the western side of Mt.Kilimanjaro, where you may see some elephants, giraffes etc.
The accommodation will be luxurious tented camps which have splendid views of Mt.Kilimanjaro. We recommend this trip before or after your climbing.

Mt. Meru Trekking

Mt.Meru is the second highest mountain in Tanzania with 4556m high. It is endowed with abundant wildlife and caldera lakes. It is possible to see many wild animals on the way such as buffaloes, giraffes, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, warthogs and many others. You can also see Mt.Kilimanjaro when climbing to the top of Mt.Meru on clear days.
Trekking to the top of this mountain prior to tackling Mt.Kilimanjaro is the best option for acclimatization. It will take only 4 days, spending 3 days to trek to the summit and 1 day to walk down to Momella gate.

During your trek

FOOD

Your trek relies much on the assistance of your guides, porters and cooks. This team brings everything you may need during your trip up to the mountain. Your cook will prepare all your meals.
If you have special diet such as vegetarian, no pork etc, please let us know before your arrival so that we can arrange for you.

WATER

We provide drinking water throughout your trip. Drinking enough water is necessary to reach to the summit, so please drink as much water as you can. It is recommended to drink 4-5 liters per day. Keep also in mind that you need to walk on your pace and save your energy.

CLIMATE

During the trekking, you might feel hot but at night and at the summit it is extremely cold and windy. Also, the weather may change suddenly in the mountain. It is recommended to wear many layers (thermal clothes) so that you can adjust easily. Remember also to change your clothes whenever you sweat after the walk in order to avoid being prone to pneumonia.

ALTITUDE SICKNESS

The symptoms of the altitude sickness are strong headaches, vomiting, diarrhea etc. The commonly known acute mountain sicknesses are the cerebral oedema that affects the ability to reason and body balance/stability, and pulmonary oedema that affects lungs which may cause difficulties in breathing. Please explain to your guides the condition of your health from time to time. Daily health check-ups are always done by our guides in order to know your health problems early enough. It is very important to follow the instructions of your guides.

Basically, all the mountain gear should be brought by the client.
Upon your booking, we will send you a list of all the gears you need for your trek.
In case you have some gears you cannot bring with you, there are rental gears available for you.
