Ngorongoro Conservation Area –NCA (International Biosphere Reserve)

Established in 1959, and its area covers 8,292 square km. It is a unique place where human (Maasai people) and animals co-exist without disturbing the nature. The NCA has 3 craters; Olmoti, Empakai and the main Crater. The main Crater is a big caldera with an area of 300 square km, 19.2km diameter, and 600 m deep. The crater rim is 2,200 m high. It supports over 2.5 million antelope, zebras, buffaloes and wildebeests seasonally. It is about 195 km north-west of Arusha town.
